Sunflower Oil Drop

Big, bold, yellow, single flowered stems. The black seeded variety has higher than normal oil levels, which makes it suitable for pressing sunflower oil.

100 days to harvest. Prefers rich well-drained soil.

Best planted in Spring, after risk of frost.

In trays or sow seeds in groups of 2 direct into ground & 30cm apart, The seeds will sprout in 10-14 days. Wait a week & snip off the weakest seedling & allow the other to grow. Water & feed well. Leave the flowers till the back is yellow/brown before removing. Allow to completely dry if you wish to keep seeds for resowing. You may need to protect from birds.Sow when is based on cooler climates. If you are growing in a warm climate you may need to check your local sow when guides.
